Features
Everything you need,
nothing you don't.

AppSwitcher is built to stay out of your way and just work.

Instant Keyboard-Driven Window Switching

Stop hunting through Alt+Tab โ€” assign any key combination and land on the right window immediately. Every app gets its own hotkey (e.g., Apps+C โ†’ VS Code, Apps+T โ†’ Terminal). Press it, you're there โ€” no menus, no mouse, no cycling through unrelated windows.

๐Ÿ”„

Three Intelligent Cycle Modes per App

Configure exactly how each hotkey behaves. Choose from three modes:

  • NextApp โ€” round-robins between multiple apps on the same key
  • Hide โ€” minimizes the focused window when pressed again
  • NextWindow โ€” cycles through every open window of a single app

Lightweight & Quiet

AppSwitcher runs silently in your system tray, using virtually no resources. You'll forget it's there โ€” until you need it.

Up and running in seconds.
1

Download & Install

Grab the installer, run it, and AppSwitcher appears in your system tray.

2

Assign Hotkeys

Right-click the tray icon, pick your apps, and set the hotkeys you want.

3

Switch Instantly

Press your hotkey, land in your app. Every time, without thinking.

Nothing to hide.

AppSwitcher uses a system-wide keyboard hook to detect your hotkeys โ€” which can sound alarming. Here's why you can trust it.

Open Source

The full source code is publicly available. You don't have to take our word for it โ€” read every line yourself and see exactly what the app does.

100% Offline

AppSwitcher never connects to the internet. There are no auto-updates, no telemetry, no servers. Feel free to block it in your firewall โ€” it will work just fine.

๐Ÿ”’

Minimal Privileges

The app runs without administrator rights by default and requests only the minimum permissions it needs to do its job โ€” nothing more.

Windows SmartScreen may appear on first launch

As an independent release, AppSwitcher hasn't built up a reputation with Microsoft yet. It's completely safe โ€” click More info then Run anyway to proceed.

FAQ
Common questions.
Yes, but there may be issues with apps running as Administrator. When an elevated app is in focus, AppSwitcher's keyboard hook can't intercept events. The workaround is to also run AppSwitcher as Administrator โ€” this can be configured in the settings.
Not by default. Windows prevents a non-elevated app from controlling elevated windows (like Task Manager or an admin terminal). Since AppSwitcher runs without admin rights by default, switching to those windows will silently fail. The fix is simple: run AppSwitcher as Administrator in the settings.
Open the settings by double-clicking the tray icon, or right-clicking it for the menu. All hotkey management is done from there.
Not by default, but it's easy to enable. Head to the settings and toggle the startup option โ€” that's all it takes.
No. The recommended download is self-contained and bundles everything it needs โ€” just run the installer and you're good to go. AppSwitcher supports Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit and 32-bit). Note: one minor visual effect (window border pulse) is exclusive to Windows 11 and won't appear on Windows 10.
As an independent developer, AppSwitcher hasn't built up a "reputation" with Microsoft yet, which triggers SmartScreen. It's safe to run โ€” just click More info then Run anyway to proceed.
